‘Three Afghan Teenage Girls’ painting exhibition featuring surreal paintings by the Mohammadi sisters has been held in Tehran’s Not Gallery.
The exhibit launching Friday showcases works by Balqis, Narges and Sakineh Mohammadi all from Afghanistan supervised by Maryam Yeganeh.
“We have been painting for about 5 years now. When our first exhibition took place we didn’t expect such reception, but we're received very well,” Narges Mohammadi, one of the teenage artists, said during the exhibition.
Mohammadi also said the painting themes are surreal because that is what her teacher Yeganeh taught--"to live and imagine through art and painting."
The exhibit featuring 21 paintings from the three artists runs October 20-25 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
